MAIN ENVIRONMENTAL ACHIEVEMENTS

100% of the occupants are satisfied with their workspace, 94% of regularly occupied spaces have access to outside views, 90% of regularly occupied spaces have access to daylight, 85% of generated waste is diverted from landfill, 65% in GHG emissions reduction from renewable energy generation in the second bimester of the year, 62% of occupants share a car, use public transport, or walk to/from the building, 53% reduction in indoor potable water use, 50% reduction in water use for green areas irrigation,

ENERGY AND ATMOSPHERE

CÍVITA installed a photovoltaic power generation system with a capacity of 2.64 kW. The system is dimensioned to provide 100% of the project’s energy consumption. The implementation of this system has the purpose of eliminate GHG emissions associated with the operation and energy consumption of the project. Since it is a naturally ventilated space, no equipment requiring refrigerants is installed, which avoids potential damage to the ozone layer. CÍVITA is a naturally lit space most of the time, which considerably reduces lighting electricity consumption.

INDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY

The well-being and quality of life of the building’s occupants is one of the major goals of CÍVITA. The characteristics of the building allows 100% of the regularly occupied spaces to be naturally ventilated. CÍVITA has large windows, which allows 90% of the regularly occupied spaces to have access to daylight.

WATER EFFICIENCY

CÍVITA has high-efficiency water fixtures and fittings, strategy that results in savings of 53% in indoor potable water use. On the other hand, water used for irrigation was reduced by 50%. These strategies help to preserve natural resources and reduce the pressure upon the water supply systems.

SUSTAINABLE SITES

CÍVITA’s location stands out for its connectivity with the community and for its access to the city’s public transportation as it its located in a densely populated area; meaning that many of the occupants of CÍVITA can commute to work or carry out different activities near the building without the need for a car. Besides, the building has 4 bicycle secure racks in the basement, and 9 MiBici public bicycle stations within an 850 m radius. The mentioned strategies and conditions help to reduce dependence on the car as a means of transportation, as well as incentive building occupants to undertake physical activity.

MATERIALS AND RESOURCES

CÍVITA has an area dedicated for storage of recyclables which includes containers for paper, cardboard, plastics, glass, metals, batteries, lamps, and electronic equipment. Besides, has a composter where most of the organic waste generated is deposited, this results in 85% of waste being diverted from landfill.
